Ford 2.0 / 2.3 /2.5L SOHC Engine manual bell housing
 Clutch fork / ball differences.
Pinto
2.0L  71-74 has smaller alignment dowels. Adapter dowels can be used
Clutch cable adjuster hole is round.
74 –80 2.3L with German transmission.
Has larger bell housing alignment pin diameter.
Has C shaped clutch cable hole.
All use same German transmission bolt pattern.
Block plate is similar not same though, due to the alignment pin diameter.
2.0 L flywheel is same diameter, however uses different crankshaft bolt patterns.
After market flywheels usually have both crankshaft patterns.
Be aware of ring gear position.
Some applications had the ring gear in a different position in relation to the
flywheel face.
 74-later Mustang. Thru 79
Uses same larger alignment pin diameter.
Bell housing stands approx 7/8” taller. Trans has longer input shaft.
German trans input shaft too short.
Shifter is 3 bolt and approx 2 ½’ back further than Pinto German trans.
The top two block bolt holes are higher. Most blocks are drilled and tapped.
Throw out fork and stud.
Early D1XX had the small diameter stud and pivot.
74 later D4XX had heavier fork with larger diameter stud and pivot.  Pivot is also
slightly longer than early.
Clutches.
1.6, 1.8, 2.0 Clutches used a 7.5” disk with 1” 23 spline hub. Used the same 8.5
 6 bolt cover. 7.5" clutch used a smaller pressure plate in larger cover. It was found in
 the 70 and earlier engines;
Escort 1.9L flywheel will also bolt to the 2.3 / 2.5L crankshaft.
Approximately 4 pound lighter. Use Escort / Pinto / Mustang disk and cover.
